Sports Facilities
Part of the Commission’s role is to uphold and promote the Island’s sporting infrastructure, and a large part of this involves sporting facilities. The following points detail the Commission’s remit with regard to this:
- Establishing and preparing a biannual ‘Sporting Facilities’ strategy and annual capital plan to advise and inform the Culture and Leisure Department.
- Providing assistance and advice to sporting bodies and private bodies in order to help them achieve projects that accord with the approved Facilities Strategy and capital plan.
- Liaising with other parties, especially the Education Department and the Environment Department, in order to ensure that they are aware of the Facilities Strategy and other competing projects.
- Encouraging the dual-use of the Education Department facilities for sport and liaising with sporting bodies as appropriate in order to ensure that both parties work together in protecting their respective interests.
- Working with sports and/or clubs that might achieve success through working together.

Receiving applications from sporting bodies, associations and sports clubs for assistance from the States Sports Loans Scheme for the development and improvement of sports facilities.
