How do I go about getting involved in sponsoring a Sports Commission event?

Despite being partly funded by the States of Guernsey, the Sports Commission is always keen to create partnerships with local companies that will have a mutual benefit for all parties. In the past few years, a number of large-scale events have been run by the Commission with the help of private-sector companies, e.g. the 2005 Youth Games with Specsavers, and the ‘Step into a Healthier Future’ initiative with Approved Personnel Group.

If you would like to learn more and get involved, please click here, and fill in the ‘Register Interest’ form.

Alternatively, you can contact Dave Warr on 01481 246875.

The Commission is grateful for your interest.

I am interested in volunteering for sporting events. How can I do this?

The Sports Commission is always pleased for the public to be involved on sporting events as much as possible, particularly in terms of volunteering. Volunteering for events gives you the chance to get closer to the action than anyone else bar the competitors, is very rewarding, and above all else, is good fun.

If you would like to learn more about becoming an accredited Guernsey Sports Commission volunteer, please click here, and fill in the ‘Register Interest’ form.

The Commission is grateful for your interest.

I have recently formed a sports club, and I wish to become a member of the Guernsey Sports Commission. How do I go about doing this?

If you wish to become a member of the Commission, your club will need to meet some basic criteria. These are:

1.      Is our sport recognised by Sport England as being a sport?

2.      Is our sport already represented by a local governing body?

3.      Has our sport been running for two years and does it have a constitution?

4.      Does our sport have a Child Protection Policy?

5.      Does our sport have a Drug Policy?

How do I apply for funding?

The Sports Development Fund is available for sports teams/individuals who wish to compete or train outside Guernsey. The Fund is only available to those who are at county level of participation or above (or an appropriate equivalent).
