Squash - Lisa Opie
Squash
British Open Champion

Arguably the finest all round British woman squash player of all time, only a fragile temperament prevented her from dominating world squash. She spent most of her career vying for trophies and national and world ranking places. In 1991 she became the first home winner of the British Open. She won the national title on four occasions and was British Open runner up four times. World Championship runner up on two occasions she had the ability to beat the dominant forces in the game. Wonderfully skilful with a fine tactical brain she played her part in England winning four World Team Championships. She was awarded the MBE for services to Squash in the 1995 New Year’s Honours list.
