Guernsey Sporting Heroes - Keith Falla

Keith was born in Guernsey in 1948 and made his sporting mark at the Grammar School for Boys. A school champion and team captain he represented Guernsey schools on several occasions and regularly competed in the Hampshire Schools and County Championships with considerable success. When his studies took him to England he joined Bournemouth AC and proved himself to be exceptionally versatile as a track runner, competing from 400 meters to 10,000, plus steeplechase and the 400 hurdles. He twice competed for Guernsey at he Commonwealth Games in Scotland and then New Zealand in 1974. His best mark was 1min.49.0sec for the 800 metres set in 1973 a time still accepted as the GIAAC senior men’s record as is his 3-48.4 for the 1,500 metres.
